Adam Smith Institute’s Annual Ukrainian Energy Forum

23 - 26 June 2014 Adam Smith Institute’s Annual Ukrainian Energy Forum took place at the InterContinental Hotel. It is widely regarded to be the leading platform for discussing the most pressing issues and current trends in the energy market of Ukraine. The Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry in conjunction with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine actively supported the organizers of the event.

This year the Forum was attended by about 350 participants including heads of major international companies, heads of the national leading companies as well as key government officials of the energy market of Ukraine. AlexPolin International also attended the unique business event.

During the event, the main topics for discussion were: the key priorities of the updated National Energy Strategy to 2030; modernization of energy infrastructure and transport network of Ukraine; Ukraine as a key energy transit node; priorities for unlocking and use of unconventional gas reserves in Ukraine; the key role of the private sector in promoting the modernization of Ukraine's coal industry; operating environment for the exploration and production of oil and gas; legislative initiatives to encourage large investments in exploration and production; the role of "green tariff" in stimulating investment in renewable energy projects; identifying opportunities in wind, solar and biogas energy.
